History
Television Education, Inc. ("Tel Ed") was founded by the late Frank D. Corbett (left in the photo).
After completing college in 1936, Frank worked briefly as a high school teacher before starting a real estate and insurance business. He also operated a highly successful construction firm. Frank took numerous state licensing exams and obtained a real estate broker's license, a life insurance agent's license, and a contractor's license in six trade classifications (general engineering, general building, concrete, structural steel, reinforcing steel, and welding).
In 1971, Frank retired and opened a license exam prep school in Sacramento with his wife Anne. During the next four years, the Corbett's school attracted students from all over California. The school's success also led to offers by other school owners to purchase Frank's study materials.
In 1975, Frank incorporated Television Education and negotiated contracts with several school owners. That same year Frank hired his son Jonathan to assist with curriculum development. In 1988, Frank retired as Tel Ed's president.
Jonathan M. Corbett has served as Television Education's president since 1988 (see STAFF). Like Frank, Jonathan has acquired several state licenses. He is a licensed real estate broker, fire and casualty insurance agent/broker, life insurance agent, general building contractor, and a former notary public.
Staff
Jonathan M. Corbett, MBA, president, is a licensed general building contractor and real estate broker. He is involved with curriculum development and appears as an instructor in many of the video lectures.
Victoria Kruse is the business manager. She also assists school owners with marketing plans and course implementation.
Melissa Dahlberg is Television Education's chief editor and lecture coordinator. Melissa edits textbook manuscripts submitted by staff and independent writers. She also works directly with schools and students to constantly improve our educational materials.
Amber Winter is Television Education's assistant editor. Amber has a B.A. from UC Davis. She has formerly taught and assisted in the UC-wide Early Academic Outreach Program. Amber assists in developing new course material, editing, and revising trade books.
Daniel Cohen is Television Education's IT specialist and an assistant editor. Dan holds a B.A. from UC Davis. He designs and implements software and web based solutions for real estate and contractor students and schools. Dan also assists in editing and researching course material.
Jeff Palmer is Television Education's video director. Jeff coordinates, films, and edits lectures for both real estate and contractor courses. Jeff Palmer has over 15 years of experience in the film industry and is an independent film maker.
